UBU: You Be You — The Art of Immaculate Storytelling with Lior Shoham at Fastrack | Monash Business School
Lior Shoham, a globally recognised master storyteller and communication strategist ran a master class with our Fastrack students at the Monash Business School
Last week, students in the Fastrack Program at Monash Business School were treated to a storytelling and business communication masterclass by Lior Shoham, a globally recognised master storyteller and communication strategist.
When he stepped into the room, Lior set the tone for something different. Without a single name tag or seating chart, he addressed every student by name. It was a powerful signal—everyone mattered, and he was fully invested. It was a simple but unforgettable moment that immediately raised the energy and intent in the room. Wow Lior Shoham.
UBU – You Be You
At the core of Lior’s message was an empowering acronym: UBU (You Be You). It was a call to action for every student to embrace their authentic voice, and it shaped the energy and message of the entire session.
Lior reminded us all that:
• “There’s no such thing as boring presentations—only boring presenters.”
• The key is not overloading content but delivering the right message to the right audience with clarity and intent.
Real-World Impact
Since 2010, the startup Lior has worked with has raised over $700 million. He brought those years of practical experience into the workshop, helping students reframe their startup pitches by asking:
• How big is the market?
• Who is paying?
• What makes you different?
• What makes you unique?
• Can you deliver?
• Are you speaking to the right audience with the right pitch in the proper context?
IMMACULATE Communication
Lior introduced students to his IMMACULATE Presentation Framework—a proven structure to elevate any pitch or business story. While we won’t give away the whole framework (you’ll need to reach out to Lior directly for that!), he emphasised one powerful principle:
“Finish with your hook—finish where you started.”
This resonated deeply with our teams and will be carried forward into every pitch they make this semester.
From Honest Traction to Proof of Potential.
Lior also shared the importance of anchoring presentations in Honest Traction and Proof of Potential—two key concepts that allowed students to articulate better:
• Their current position
• Their future trajectory
• And why others should care
These ideas weren’t just theory—they became foundational tools for students to refine their business communication to recruit team members, win over partners, inspire investors, and attract customers.
This session with Lior Shoham left an indelible mark on the Fastrack teams. He didn’t just teach communication—he demonstrated how powerful it can be when done with intention, authenticity, and clarity.
Suppose you want to transform your storytelling, elevate your pitch, or empower your team to present with a more significant impact. In that case, I can’t recommend a session with Lior highly enough.
